It is more expensive than ever to run a business, what with increasing office rent, office supplies an energy bills but there are many ways in which you can cut the costs of running a business by putting in place better energy management initiatives.
Read on to discover how better energy management for your business will not only enable you and your employees to reduce carbon footprint but will cut your bills by a considerable amount.
What is Energy Management?
Energy management is exactly that, it allows you to monitor energy consumption of your business which will enable you to put in place ways in which it can be reduced. It will enable you to ensure the energy that you use is used in the most efficient way possible.
How can I reduce energy consumption?
There are many different things you can put in place to enable your business to reduce its energy consumption. Here are just a few:
Turn off: when the computers go off at the end of the day they are in fact just placed on standby. You can save money by turning of the main power supply from the wall. If you have a large office you may benefit from a master switch that you can turn off to ensure that everything is off at the end of the day.
Recycle and reuse: offices are known to waste paper. If printing is vital then place your printer on energy saving mode, this will reduce the ink that it uses. Alternatively you can set the printer to print on both sides. Have a waste paper tray rather than notebooks so your employees can make notes on the back of paper. You can also have segregated waste bins to increase recycling.
Cooling and heating: most offices just have the air conditioning or heating on for the sake of it. Before turning to the air-con switch open some windows to help get the air circulating.
Repair and maintenance: when a piece of machinery breaks it is important to get it fixed as soon as possible. When an item is broken it requires more energy to work than a working machine would require.
Is there someone that can help?
Small businesses are now able to take their waste to household waste tips. If you would like to put in place efficient energy management then seek advice from an energy management company. They will be able to assess you energy usage and will put in place ways in which it can be reduced.

Though 2012 Marathon Race is my second year of participation in half marathon category, I find, in this year, some discomfitures in your mandated usual terms and conditions which have undergone serious changes; The one important discomfiture is about thechanges you have made on time restriction of 3 hours for half marathon race completion by participants to become eligible for issuance of timing certificate. It is evidently the belief of everyone that the main focus of this Great Race is (i) fun and (ii) ensuring a definite contribution to a great social cause.
However, we enumerate a few relevant points below and request your definite and positive consideration to revisit your decision on the above issue.
1.Having spent a year long time and energy on rigorous training to become fit on the Race Day, it is good to have an important aspect of completing the race within a “reasonable” time for such an event.
2.But, the “reasonableness” of such time frame was definitely NOT thought to undergo change by rising the bar. You may appreciate for sure, such action of rising the time bar, is NOT a business performance matrix – but, it is bestowed on people who run greatly for a social cause but with a certainty of self emulating action as well, as far as possible. Such drastic time frame reduction is a discomfiture in their efforts and would mar their interest in this event.
3.Making many senior participants ineligible for timing certificate who take time of more than 3 hours (but well within 3 1/2 hours for half marathon as in the past) actually undermines the very warp and weft of the belief and respect of every participant on this Great Event.
4.Further such reduction of time frame only for half marathon race is viewed as unreasonable and avoidable, as what all of us are interested is ensuring full satisfaction and justification in serving a great social cause and be part of this event and its continuation for ever!!! And this cannot be achieved by rising the time-bar each time as what we wish to ensure is the social cause and definitely notmaking all participants to rune for a medal/cash award, as many participants in this category are senior citizens of our country.
5.As per your process, the track is to be kept live even for 6 hours to take care of full marathon runners and this hardly justifies restricting the time frame for half marathon to 3 hours only for issuance of timing certificate.
6.Just revisiting the time frame for half marathon runners back to Three and half hours as in the past shall find enthusiasm from many veteran, senior veteran and also super senior veteran runners in this category and they will take up this race as serious as in the past. By doing this, the procam management is not going to loose anything…but definitely you will win the hearts of all such senior citizens of our country…a win-win for all.
Please note that my personal timing was 2 hours 26 minutes in the half marathon event of 2011. .
Look forward to have your revert and a favourable decision towards our request.
